Åkle

Åkle is a strong, hand-woven carpet with a colorful pattern. The various regions have their distinctive colors and patterns. The patterns on an Åkle from Nordhordland are asymmetrically distributed on the deck, with the widest boards at the top.

Originally, the blanket was used as a cover on the beds. The finest were only in use during the festive season. Then they could also be hung on the wall - for decoration, and for protection against drafts.
