THE SKI FACTORY

Olav Kleiveland produced "OK skis" from the 1930s until 1972-73 and sold skis to the whole country.

Production started in the basement at Kleiveland, later it was moved to an old hen house at Hauge, before the "Ski factory" was built at Hauge in 1946. The main production was in the period 1946 to 1953 and at most there were 5 to 6 men at work.

In the beginning, the materials were pine and ash, but spruce and beech were also used - and eventually hickory. In the 60s, the ski factory was among the first in the country to start production of plastic skis.
