The Faculty of Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen, presents new works by art students who in different ways relate to and employ textile techniques, materials and vocabularies.

The textile focus area at KMD has a diverse and vibrant community of students, teaching staff and researchers who together explore a wide range of topics within the field of textiles.

The exhibition is composed of students from dífferent study year groups from Bachelor to Masters.

Together, the work represents wide ranging modes of expression - analogue, digital, craft-based, conceptual and political, executed in techniques such as dyeing, printing, painting, embroidery, felting, weaving, tufting, patchwork, manipulation and multiple hybrid practices. Through these methodologies works explore and express diverse thematises of gender and identity, feminism, neuro-divergence, violence, dreams, self-celebrity, social visibility, somatic communication, psyche, nature, representation, sustainability, (new) materialities, colour, graphics, and broad visual traditions.

The exhibition - curated by Professor Tim Parry-Williams, artist and alumnus Daniela Bergschneider, and Associate Professor Ingrid Aarset - also celebrates and continues a long tradition of collaboration with the Textile Industry Museum.
